Datacenter Design & Consultation Benefits

IT operations are a crucial aspect of most organizational operations. One of the main concerns is business continuity; companies rely on their information systems to run their operations. If a system becomes unavailable, company operations may be impaired or stopped completely. It is necessary to provide a reliable infrastructure for IT operations, in order to minimize any chance of disruption

Data centers are rated depending upon the Tier they belong too. There are four different Tier's Tier I, Tier II, Tier III and Tier IV.

Tier 1 to 4 data center is nothing but a standardized methodology used to define uptime of data center. This is useful for measuring:

a) Data center performance
b) Investment
c) ROI (return on investment)

Tier 4 data center is considered as most robust and less prone to failures. Tier 4 is designed to host mission critical servers and computer systems, with fully redundant subsystems (cooling, power, network links, storage etc) and compartmentalized security zones controlled by biometric access controls methods. Naturally, the simplest is a Tier 1 data center used by small and medium studios.

  • Tier 1 = Non-redundant capacity components (single uplink and servers).
  • Tier 2 = Tier 1 + Redundant capacity components.
  • Tier 3 = Tier 1 + Tier 2 + Dual-powered equipments and multiple uplinks.
  • Tier 4 = Tier 1 + Tier 2 + Tier 3 + all components are fully fault-tolerant including uplinks, storage, chillers, HVAC systems, servers etc. Everything is dual-powered.

Sample design For Optimum Cooling Using the Bottom Aisle

DUX Soft has designed and implemented state-of-the art Data Center with over 500 servers.

Design Methodology

Designing a Renderfarm and Data Center involves the following Process

  1. Prepare
  2. Design
  3. Acquire
  4. Implement
  5. Training
  6. Documentation, Handover &Final Signoff

Scope of work

  1. Key Parameters detailing based on client inputs and project requirements:
    1. Estimation of floor space required for the IDC
    2. Number of racks required
    3. Amount of cooling & power required
    4. Level of cabling required
    5. Volume & nature of fire detection & suppression required
  2. Complete Design Plan detailing:
    1. Cooling
    2. Power
    3. Security
    4. Fire
    5. Network System
  3. Floor Plan Blueprint detailing:
    1. Layout of aisles
    2. CRAC units
    3. Server render farm
    4. Storage servers
    5. Application servers
    6. Cabling
    7. Cooling Ducts
  4. Vendor Recommendations: for each service and product a minimum of three vendors and their details shall be furnished for obtaining a quote
  5. Preliminary Budgeting: estimated budget for all equipment, service providers and contractors costs shall be provided for review and finalization

Benefit’s for Client
1. Over all number of people involved in the project will be reduced, hence reducing the over all cost of the project for the client
2. Over all time consume is reduced to less than 50% during the design stage
3. DUX Soft team enables the current and freaturistic design of the Data Center on the basics of the expansion plans provided by the client
4. DUX Soft also delivers detailed documentation and training to the respective departments
5. Every specific purchase of a product or a service during a Data Center design is carefully analyzed on the basis of technical, cost, after sales servicer etc
6. DUX Soft as a standard practice, provides Online project management for the benefit of the client
